The past and the present are connected in a play that examines how Florida, a state almost drowning in water, has become a dry Wasteland. The first play of “The Florida Cycle,” a collection of rich and illuminating stories about the state we call home, commissioned by Florida Stage.

About the Playwright...

Andrew Rosendorf is the Playwright-in-Residence at Florida Stage for the 2008-2010 seasons and is currently working on a commission for them centering around South Florida’s water shortage. He was a finalist for a 2009-2010 Jerome Fellowship at The Playwrights’ Center. His plays include So It Goes/Brilliant Corners (NNPN National Showcase of New Plays, Fall 2009), The Kid (Weissberger Nominee 2009), Good Night & God Bless, or The Lone Ranger Rides Again (Florida Stage’s 1st Stage Festival), Orlah (Heideman Award Finalist 2010; City Theatre’s Summer Shorts), Scared of the Bronx (Heideman Award Finalist 2010), The Authorities (New York International Fringe Festival 2003), Tranquil (Fall Eatfest 2008), Safe (Etcetera Theatre Company), The Falling Notes (Semi-Finalists in the 32nd Annual Samuel French Off-Off Broadway Short Play Festival), and The Great Lesbian Detective (The 24 Hour Play Company). Andrew holds a BA in Theatre from the College of William and Mary and an MFA in Playwriting from The New School for Drama. He is a proud member of the Dramatists Guild.
