These are exciting times for all of us at Florida Stage! The phenomenal growth of the organization provides an exciting challenge for an exceptional DEVELOPMENT PROFESSIONAL to join our team.
In July we are moving to our new residence in the Rinker Playhouse at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, providing for a higher profile performance venue and superb technical and audience features.
Florida Stage, which has been doing business in the Palm Beach area since 1987, is now America’s largest professional theater company, producing exclusively new and developing plays. We are recognized both locally and nationally as a leader in our industry.
The organization is moving rapidly ahead in our search to hire our Development Director who will play an important role in our continued growth and development as a leader in our field. The prestige and excitement of moving to the Kravis Center, the cultural hub of Palm Beach County adds to our reputation as an important, growing theater entity within the United States.
The Position
The Director of Development will be a member of the Executive Management Team having a reporting relationship to the Producing Director and the Managing Director. This professional will work closely with an active Board to ensure fundraising success with the responsibility for planning, implementing and administering all individual, corporate, foundation and government fundraising campaigns and oversee all special events for Florida Stage. They will manage the three person staff, ensuring accurate record keeping and follow up regarding donors and campaigns. Responsibility for creating a unified message, i.e. communicating with donors, patrons and the community will be essential, working closely with internal systems to ensure smooth operations and high quality. Additional responsibilities will include working with the Marketing Department in the development of website, print, TV and media materials. Coordination of events that provide financial results, also will be coordinated by the Director of Development.
Professional Qualifications and Experience
- Five to seven years as a development and/or community relations experience in a non-profit organization with a proven track record in individual and major giving
- Fundraising in diverse, multilingual communities.
- Proven track record in motivating others. A person others will follow -- a team leader who enjoys the collegial culture of our organization.
- Keen understanding of management systems, databases, research and other donor related tools. A talented communicator with excellent executive presence and superb writing skills.
- A creative and innovative thinker who is challenged by the needs and demands of a growing organization.
- Ideally a person who is looking to make a contribution to a growing company and has the capability to work in a positive, dynamic, fast-moving organization, having the drive and creativity to help in a rapidly growing organization.
