Special Programming

Florida Stage's educational initiative is a series of programs designed to provide students with outstanding participatory experiences in drama and theatre.  The  programs encourage creativity, self-expression, and personal development while contributing to school curriculum goals.

Children of Conflict: The G-Star School of the Arts International Collaborative
Under the guidance of a professional filmmaker and playwright, students at G-Star will cultivate a dialogue via a special website with young people abroad about their experiences growing up in regions touched by conflict. ASSITEJ, the International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People, will assist in connecting the G-Star students with students in Eastern Europe and Africa. Their exchange will culminate in the collaborative creation of a multi-media theatrical performance to be performed at Florida Stage by students from G-Star School of the Arts.

Royal Palm Project involves all the elements needed in developing a brand new piece of theatre. Students work with professional artists to create a unique performance centered around a particular theme. Elements include the spoken word, music, dance and visual art. Over the course of the school year, the production slowly comes into focus - resulting in a thrilling performance at the Kravis Center's Rinker Playhouse.

These are just two examples of the innovative programs offered by Florida Stage's Education Department. For more information, please contact Susan Hyatt, Director of Education, at 561-585-3404 ext.115.
