In July 2010, at the end of our current season, we took up residence in the Rinker Playhouse at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts.
The partnership between Florida Stage and the Kravis Center provides us with a higher profile performance venue and better theatrical and audience facilities, while retaining the intimate setting that has been a Florida Stage hallmark. It provides the Kravis Center, the region's largest performing arts facility, with a resident professional theatre company of national stature.
Some things are new: the seating, the look of the lobby, our increased ability to showcase the work of our lighting and set designers. But, more importantly, many things stay the same: the quality of the work, the excitement of being a part of new work created for audiences across the nation, and the lively discussions created by the issues we take on. In short, it is Florida Stage at its finest: a good story, well-told, produced by artists acknowledged as some of the best in the country, presented in the most innovative, creative, comfortable setting imaginable.
Here are some important things to know about Florida Stage at the Kravis Center:
Our mission remains the same: to develop and produce the best new work in American theatre. We will continue to operate as a separate and autonomous company, with an independent staff and Board of Trustees.
The comfort and intimacy of our redesign of the Rinker Playhouse is stunning with 275 new seats, better sightlines, and all the things you love about the Florida Stage experience.
In addition to the beauty of the Kravis Center, it is more centrally located, which allows us to reach a wider audience. We will be more visible, "on the radar" of thousands of people who might not have heard of Florida Stage in Manalapan.
Parking is easy, convenient, free, and covered from the elements. The Kravis Center boasts 1200 parking spaces in its state-of-the-art parking facility, just steps from our new home in the Rinker Playhouse. And the Kravis Center's highly-trained, professional security staff makes the Kravis Center one of the safest places to visit in Palm Beach County.
Handicap accessibility is second-to-none, without the bother of having to go up or down even one step to attend a Florida Stage play at the Kravis Center. Handicap parking is plentiful on the 3rd level of the Kravis Center parking facility, which leads directly to the front door of the Rinker Playhouse, where your seat, or space for your wheelchair, is waiting in the front row of the theatre.
To purchase your subscriptions and additional guest tickets, you can call the very same Florida Stage box office professionals at the very same Florida Stage box office phone number. And, of course, you can also purchase tickets online, or at the box office window in the Rinker Playhouse lobby.
We know that you may have additional questions about the Florida Stage move to the Kravis Center. We are available to answer any questions you may have.
